Maria Althea Ladero is an artist, writer and scholar born in Manila, Philippines.

Currently based and sweet living in Chicago, IL, Maria (Althea) works with materials of memory. Exploring themes of ancestry, the sonic and visual landscapes found throughout her life and meeting its’ resonance with her touch. Her artistry breathes love and homage to her ancestry, belonging, and recognition through our roots - interwoven across matter, time, space and lineage.

Alongside to howtobevenus.net, The Filipino Archive is her legacy love letter dedicated to her grandparents: Lola Purita, Lolo Lito, Papa Lad and Mama Susing.

Howtobevenus.net is a second life-form of her blog, ‘Rosy Collective’ which she created at 16 years of age. Howtobevenus is an expansion of that universe and continues to take shape as a boundless, multi-disciplinary online forum, growing with her in constant change and what remains true to her core.

Maria (Althea) believes in service, devotion, music, Love and in pursuing Liberation for all oppressed people everywhere
